Scream for Air
“It was a feeling as if I permanently had a cloth over my face." Drawing breath is a pain for Janine Schmechel. Breathing is life. A constant struggle to breathe makes her everyday life miserable. She increasingly avoids every type of exertion – becomes dull and retires from active life. Her entire life only revolves around the disease. All the more Janine now enjoys the normality of being able to breathe freely and deeply. These days she jogs along the beach in the sun – as long and far as she wants.
